Mechanism of Action
Levofloxacin is the active L-isomer of ofloxacin — third-generation fluoroquinolone with enhanced gram-positive activity (Streptococcus pneumoniae). Excellent oral bioavailability (~99%) with once-daily dosing.

Side Effects
GI upset, headache, dizziness, photosensitivity, tendon rupture, QT prolongation, dysglycaemia. Arthropathy risk in growing children.

Children <18, pregnancy, history of FQ tendinopathy, prolonged QT.
