About Lyromac-450 PR Tablet
Lyromac-450 PR provides Lithium Carbonate 450 mg PR — intermediate strength for fine titration between 400 mg and 600 mg doses. Useful when 400 mg twice daily is sub-therapeutic but 600 mg gives side effects.

Mechanism of Action
Lithium is a mood stabiliser whose mechanism involves multiple actions — inhibition of inositol monophosphatase (depleting inositol/PIP2 signalling), inhibition of glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3), and modulation of serotonergic and noradrenergic neurotransmission. Therapeutic levels 0.6–1.2 mEq/L; toxic >1.5 mEq/L. Narrow therapeutic index requires regular monitoring.

Tremor (fine), polyuria/polydipsia, weight gain, hypothyroidism (long-term), nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, thyroid dysfunction. Toxicity: confusion, ataxia, seizures.
