About Glucim-M2 Forte SR Tablet
Glucim-M2 Forte SR Tablet contains Metformin HCl 1000 mg + Glimepiride 2 mg. Combines the biguanide Metformin (suppresses hepatic gluconeogenesis and improves insulin sensitivity) with the third-generation sulphonylurea Glimepiride (stimulates pancreatic insulin secretion). Sustained-release formulation provides smoother metformin exposure with reduced GI side effects.
Indicated for adult patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled on monotherapy who need additional glycaemic intensification.

Mechanism of Action
Metformin activates AMPK, suppressing hepatic glucose output and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity. Glimepiride closes ATP-sensitive K+ channels on pancreatic beta cells, triggering calcium-mediated insulin secretion. The complementary mechanisms address both insulin resistance and inadequate insulin secretion in type-2 DM.
