About Norcure-TZ Tablet
Norcure-TZ Tablet combines Norfloxacin 400 mg with Tinidazole 600 mg — for acute mixed bacterial-protozoal diarrhoea (E. coli + Giardia/Entamoeba). Single-tablet convenience for traveller’s diarrhoea and acute gastroenteritis.

Mechanism of Action
Norfloxacin is a fluoroquinolone targeting gram-negative enteric pathogens (E. coli, Shigella, Salmonella). Metronidazole/Tinidazole/Ornidazole are nitroimidazoles activated by anaerobic/protozoal enzymes — form DNA-damaging nitro radicals. Target anaerobes (Bacteroides, Clostridium), protozoa (Giardia, Entamoeba, Trichomonas). Tinidazole has longer half-life (~12 hours) than metronidazole allowing once-daily dosing.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet twice daily x 3–5 days.
Side Effects
GI upset, headache, dizziness, photosensitivity, tendon rupture (rare), QT prolongation, peripheral neuropathy, dysglycaemia. Disulfiram-like reaction with alcohol (Tinidazole).
Contraindications & Precautions
Children below 18, pregnancy, lactation, history of FQ tendinopathy, severe hepatic impairment, prolonged QT. Avoid alcohol during and 72 hours after Tinidazole.
