About Ofzac-TZ Tablet (Blister)
Ofzac-TZ Tablet combines Ofloxacin 200 mg + Tinidazole 600 mg — alternative to OZ variant using Tinidazole (longer half-life than metronidazole, fewer GI side effects).

Mechanism of Action
Ofloxacin is a second-generation fluoroquinolone — inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV blocking DNA replication. Active against gram-negative aerobes, atypicals (Chlamydia, Mycoplasma), and many gram-positives. Excellent oral bioavailability (~95%). Metronidazole/Tinidazole/Ornidazole are nitroimidazoles activated by anaerobic/protozoal enzymes — form DNA-damaging nitro radicals. Target anaerobes (Bacteroides, Clostridium), protozoa (Giardia, Entamoeba, Trichomonas). Tinidazole has 12-hour half-life vs metronidazole's 8 hours.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet twice daily x 3–5 days.
Side Effects
GI upset, headache, dizziness, photosensitivity, tendon rupture (rare), QT prolongation, peripheral neuropathy, dysglycaemia. Disulfiram-like reaction with alcohol.
Contraindications & Precautions
Children below 18, pregnancy, lactation, history of FQ tendinopathy, severe hepatic impairment, prolonged QT. Avoid alcohol during and 72 hours after.
