Mechanism of Action

Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 800–2400 mg three times daily with meals (titrate to phosphate target).
Side Effects
- GI upset, constipation, mild metabolic acidosis (Carbonate form better than HCl).
Contraindications
- Bowel obstruction, hypophosphataemia.
