Mechanism of Action
Valsartan selectively antagonises angiotensin-II AT1 receptors, blocking angiotensin-II-mediated vasoconstriction, aldosterone release and sympathetic activation.
Dosage & Administration
- Hypertension: 80–320 mg once daily
- HF: titrate 40 mg twice daily to 160 mg twice daily
- Take with or without food
- Monitor BP, renal function and potassium
