About Ofzac IV Infusion
Ofzac IV delivers Ofloxacin 100 mg in 100 ml IV infusion — for hospitalised patients with severe respiratory, urinary tract, gynaecological, and skin/soft-tissue infections. Allows IV-to-oral switch when patient improves.

Mechanism of Action
Ofloxacin is a second-generation fluoroquinolone — inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV blocking DNA replication. Active against gram-negative aerobes, atypicals (Chlamydia, Mycoplasma), and many gram-positives. Excellent oral bioavailability (~95%).
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 200 mg IV every 12 hours, infused over 60 minutes.
Side Effects
GI upset, headache, dizziness, photosensitivity, tendon rupture (rare), QT prolongation, peripheral neuropathy, dysglycaemia.
Contraindications & Precautions
Children below 18, pregnancy, lactation, history of FQ tendinopathy, severe hepatic impairment, prolonged QT.
