Therapeutic Indications
- Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (seasonal and perennial)

Mechanism of Action
Bilastine selectively antagonises peripheral H1 histamine receptors, preventing histamine-mediated vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, smooth muscle contraction and sensory nerve stimulation. Minimal CNS penetration limits sedation; absence of significant CYP450 metabolism prevents most drug-drug interactions.
Dosage & Administration
- Adults and adolescents ≥ 12 years: 20 mg once daily, taken one hour before or two hours after food or fruit juice.
- Avoid grapefruit juice.

- Headache, somnolence (uncommon), dizziness, abdominal discomfort.
- Rare hypersensitivity reactions.
- Negligible cardiotoxicity.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to bilastine.
- Concurrent fruit juice and grapefruit (reduce absorption).
