About Camylox Drops
Camylox Drops contain Camylofin 20 mg/ml in a paediatric drop format, equivalent in composition to the well-known Anafortan Drops (Abbott). Camylofin is a quaternary ammonium antispasmodic widely used in Indian paediatric practice for the relief of infantile colic, abdominal cramps, biliary colic and renal colic in infants and young children.
Camylofin acts directly on visceral smooth muscle to produce rapid relaxation, with minimal systemic anticholinergic effects compared to older antispasmodics like dicyclomine. Its quaternary ammonium structure limits CNS penetration, making it well-tolerated in paediatric patients. The drop format allows accurate weight-based dosing via the calibrated dropper.
Camylox Drops are manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing — a high-volume paediatric SKU.
Indications
- Infantile colic and abdominal cramps in infants and young children
- Biliary and renal colic in paediatric age group
- Functional abdominal pain in children
- Post-operative gut spasm in paediatric surgery
Mechanism of Action
Camylofin is a quaternary ammonium compound that directly relaxes visceral smooth muscle through both anticholinergic (M3 receptor antagonism) and direct musculotropic effects. Its quaternary structure prevents significant absorption into CNS, limiting systemic anticholinergic side effects.
