Claribest-250 Tablet contains Clarithromycin 250 mg, an adult macrolide antibiotic used for community-acquired respiratory tract infections, atypical pneumonia, H. pylori eradication and skin/soft-tissue infections. The 250 mg twice-daily regimen is the standard dose for mild-to-moderate infections.

Mechanism of Action
Clarithromycin is a 14-membered macrolide that binds the 50S bacterial ribosomal subunit, inhibiting peptidyl transferase and protein synthesis. Bacteriostatic against most organisms but bactericidal at high concentrations against susceptible species. Active against most respiratory pathogens including atypicals (Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Legionella) and H. pylori.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 250 mg twice daily for 7–14 days. H. pylori eradication: 500 mg twice daily as part of triple therapy.
Side Effects
Taste disturbance (metallic taste — characteristic), nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache. QT prolongation (avoid with other QT-prolonging drugs). Drug interactions via CYP3A4 inhibition (warfarin, statins). Rare: hepatotoxicity, hypersensitivity.
