About Claritus-CPM Syrup

Claritus-CPM Syrup combines Levocloperastine 20 mg with Chlorpheniramine Maleate (CPM) per 5 ml — equivalent in composition to Lupituss-CPM. Levocloperastine is a peripheral and central cough suppressant that acts on the cough centre and the respiratory mucosa, with less sedation potential than codeine.

Used for non-productive dry cough with allergic component — particularly post-viral cough, allergic rhinitis-associated cough and chronic dry cough. The combination addresses both the cough reflex and the histaminergic component simultaneously.

Claritus-CPM is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing.

Indications

  • Non-productive (dry) cough
  • Cough with allergic rhinitis
  • Post-viral persistent cough
  • Nocturnal dry cough disturbing sleep
  • Cough variant of asthma (adjunct)

Mechanism of Action

Levocloperastine acts both centrally on the cough centre (suppressing cough reflex) and peripherally on respiratory mucosal receptors. Unlike codeine, it does not cause significant respiratory depression or addiction. CPM blocks H1 histamine receptors, addressing the allergic component of cough.
