About Linorid Dry Syrup

Mechanism of Action
Linezolid is an oxazolidinone antibiotic — binds 23S ribosomal RNA inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis at initiation phase. Active against vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE), MRSA, drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB). 100% oral bioavailability — IV-to-oral equivalent.
Dosage & Administration
Children >5 years: 10 mg/kg every 8 hours. Children <5 years: 10 mg/kg every 8 hours (consider every 8 hours dosing).
Side Effects
Thrombocytopenia (with >14 day use, monitor weekly), peripheral and optic neuropathy (prolonged use), lactic acidosis, serotonin syndrome (with SSRIs).
Contraindications & Precautions
Concurrent MAO inhibitors, uncontrolled hypertension, pheochromocytoma, carcinoid, thyrotoxicosis. Caution with SSRIs, tricyclics, sympathomimetics.
