About Metoron-CT 50/12.5 Tablet
Metoron-CT combines the cardioselective beta-blocker Metoprolol Succinate 50 mg (Sustained Release) with the thiazide-like diuretic Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg. The complementary mechanisms — beta-blockade and natriuresis-mediated BP reduction — provide additive antihypertensive effect.
Indicated for essential hypertension as a fixed-dose combination, particularly suited to patients with hypertension and cardiac comorbidity (post-MI, angina, atrial fibrillation rate control).

Mechanism of Action
Metoprolol Succinate is a cardioselective beta-1 antagonist that reduces heart rate, contractility and renin secretion. Chlorthalidone is a long-acting thiazide-like diuretic that inhibits the Na+/Cl- cotransporter in the distal convoluted tubule, producing natriuresis and vasodilation. The combination provides 24-hour BP control with additive effect.
