About K-Best Injection
K-Best Injection delivers Phytomenadione (Vitamin K1) 1 mg IM — the standard prophylactic dose for all newborns within 6 hours of birth, preventing haemorrhagic disease of the newborn (HDN). Universal practice per WHO and Indian Academy of Paediatrics guidelines.
Also used for warfarin reversal and in patients with malabsorption or hepatic disease causing vitamin K deficiency.

Mechanism of Action
Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) is essential cofactor for hepatic synthesis of coagulation factors II, VII, IX, X and proteins C and S — via gamma-carboxylation of glutamic acid residues. Onset 6–12 hours IM; full effect 24–48 hours.
Dosage & Administration
Newborn: 1 mg IM within 6 hours of birth. Adults: 5–10 mg slow IV/IM for warfarin reversal.
Side Effects
Local injection site reaction, rare anaphylactoid reaction with rapid IV push.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Avoid rapid IV administration (anaphylactoid risk).
