About Laxipride-1 Tablet
Laxipride-1 Tablet contains Prucalopride 1 mg — the starting/elderly dose for chronic idiopathic constipation unresponsive to laxatives. First selective 5-HT4 agonist without cardiac arrhythmia risk (unlike cisapride and tegaserod, both withdrawn).
Standard adjunct or alternative when osmotic and stimulant laxatives fail.

Mechanism of Action
Prucalopride is a highly selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist that stimulates gastrointestinal motility — specifically enhancing colonic propulsive motor activity. Unlike older prokinetics (cisapride, tegaserod), Prucalopride does not affect 5-HT1B or hERG channels — no cardiac arrhythmia risk.
Dosage & Administration
Adults >65 or renal impairment: 1 mg once daily. May increase to 2 mg.
Side Effects
Headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea (especially first 1–3 days). Generally mild and self-limiting.

Hypersensitivity, intestinal perforation/obstruction, severe inflammatory bowel disease (toxic megacolon), severe renal impairment (dose adjust).
