About Cefiza-50 LB Dry Syrup
Cefiza-50 LB Dry Syrup contains Cefixime 50 mg + Lactobacillus in a infant dry-syrup format. Cefixime is a third-generation oral cephalosporin with broad-spectrum activity against gram-negative bacteria including Enterobacteriaceae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis and Neisseria species. The infant-strength variant with added probiotic — particularly valuable in young children where antibiotic-associated diarrhoea can cause rapid dehydration.
Cefixime is the most widely used third-generation oral cephalosporin in Indian practice for community-acquired infections. Its once or twice daily dosing, oral bioavailability and broad gram-negative coverage make it valuable for UTI, gonorrhoea, typhoid fever, ENT infections and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.

Mechanism of Action
Cefixime binds penicillin-binding proteins (PBP-3) on gram-negative bacteria, inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis. The result is bacterial cell wall destabilisation and osmotic lysis. Cefixime is resistant to many beta-lactamases produced by gram-negative organisms — distinguishing it from earlier cephalosporins. Lactobacillus reduces colonic dysbiosis.
Dosage & Administration
Infants: 8 mg/kg/day in one or two divided doses. Reconstitute and shake well. Refrigerate after reconstitution.
