About Moxirut-400 IV

Mechanism of Action
Moxifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV — blocking DNA replication. Bactericidal. IV bioavailability equivalent to oral (100%) allows seamless IV-to-oral switch when patient stabilises.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 400 mg IV once daily infused over 60 minutes.
Side Effects
GI upset, headache, QT prolongation (monitor in cardiac patients), tendon rupture, C. difficile colitis, hypoglycaemia/hyperglycaemia, photosensitivity, peripheral neuropathy.
Contraindications & Precautions
Children, pregnancy, lactation, history of FQ tendinopathy, severe hepatic impairment, prolonged QT, on QT-prolonging drugs (amiodarone, sotalol, ondansetron etc.).
